Real Estate
Barbeau, Evans & Goldstein has expertise in all areas of real
estate law with an emphasis on residential development, government
funded non-profit rental projects, commercial leasing and mortgage
lending. We provide advice respecting rezoning, subdivision, negotiating
real estate joint venture agreements, and real property acquisition as
well as general advice respecting business transactions involving real
estate in other parts of Canada and in other countries.

Immigration
Gerald Goldstein has concentrated on immigration matters over 25
years. He has developed an excellent knowledge of all matters relating
to immigration to Canada and has an excellent working relationship with
Citizenship and Immigration Canada, including an understanding of the
very complicated rules and regulations involved. He has represented
clients at all courts having jurisdiction over immigration matters
including the Supreme Court of Canada, Federal Court and Federal Court
of Appeal and at Administrative Tribunals and Intelligence Agencies. Mr.
Goldstein takes a pragmatic results oriented approach to immigration
matters.
Mr. Goldstein has recently handled the following types of cases:

Mr. Goldstein also frequently acts for people seeking to avoid being

Construction Law
With the addition of Philip Walters to our team, Barbeau, Evans &
Goldstein has expertise in all aspects of Construction Law to serve the
full spectrum of clients; from contractors and engineers, to owners and
their project managers.
Mr. Walters’ practice emphasizes the front-end use of legal
resources to forge the most appropriate project structure and contract.
Mr. Walters also believes that dealing with risk issues as they arise
during the project, will ultimately result in better profitability.
Although litigation is seen as a last resort, Mr. Walters has achieved
many superior results from this mode as well.
Being a Professional Engineer, Mr. Walters is very conversant with
the technical aspects of construction deals and disputes. Having served
as the General Counsel of two national construction firms, his practice
also encompasses labour relations and occupational health and safety
law.
